Views: 16th century Castle & grounds, views across River Medway, picturesque cobbled High Street with clapperboard buildings.
Directions from Maidstone: Take A229, Bluebell Hill and the onto M2 Westbound. Exit M2 at Junction 1 and continue on A289. At 1st roundabout take 2nd exit onto A228. Turn left at 1st roundabout onto A289 & then 1st left onto Upnor Road. After about ¾ mile after climbing hill to village, park in free public car park on right. Exit car park through short footpath in corner to top of High Street. Upnor Castle at bottom of High Street on left overlooking River Medway.
Facilities: NB. There are no available toilet facilities in Upnor outside the castle grounds. There are approximately 20 free parking spaces (shared with Upnor Village) located 200 metres from the entrance to the castle.
Cost: English Heritage Members, Free. Concessions £. Standard £. or you can paint for free if you are happy to sit in the pedestrianized high street.

Pay £ parking fee at Lock keepers cottage. Barrier(s) will be raised. Continue to small riverside car park. Alternatively approach from Forstal Road and park at Malta Inn.
